Most of us have the ability to shift our personas to meet varying interpersonal circumstances. We can turn on the charm or toughen up as required. My sister and I naturally default to kind and gentle, but have both been in professional roles that required tougher personas. I've recently found myself swept up in too much snarky social media jousting, and I don't like me in that role. I'd rather join the many good folks who are community building, rather than spend more time tearing people down...with little to show for it. I'm divulging no secret that we're living in a much too uptight world. Too many angry, quick-tempered folks. Possibly that friend in our mirror. Road rage, unprovoked shootings, hate groups, fear-mongering politicos and media reps so happy to exploit same to boost ratings. And corporate advertisers play to our fears about our health and safety. Sound familiar? Lots of reasons to be uptight. Many we can't control.
